How many streets in Santa Cruz are wide enough to support tiny homes along the side instead of parking spaces? Such that there's still a (narrow) two way street. And then a walking/biking path could border between the tiny homes and existing residences.
An easy example is Nobel Drive. We could convert one lane and the median into housing, and the other lane would become a two-way street with no parking.
Imagine them being very permanent also. Connected to full utilities, etc. But also very small as to be slightly inconvenient but totally livable. Good for college students, people getting back on their feet, and even minimalist tech bros.
I think it could add a lot of lower-cost housing options, spread out the density, and satisfy people who want Santa Cruz to be a "small beach town"-- little funky homes on every block would certainly be a unique vibe.
What do you all think?
