Repotting question - break up roots/potting mix or leave undisturbed?

Post Body

I’m just about to repot a few cacti I’ve had for a while. This will be my first go at repotting.

Question is, when repotting is to best to dust off as much of the old potting soil from rootstock as possible or best to not disturb to too much?

My thinking was to break up and spread root stock a fair bit to give it more chance to spread out in new pot/potting mix.

Any advice appreciated!
