I was walking home after grabbing groceries. Hands were full groceries, I was in view of my apartment, and had my dog with me.

Two dogs we're off leash on the sidewalk next to a car with it's door open. A group of people were inside the car. My dog is currently wounded from a vehicle accident and she is skittish in general.

As I got closer to the dogs, they came toward us, so I backed up and asked the guy if he could grab his dogs. He told me to just keep walking and he called them over to the car. As I was next to the car, they approached my dog quickly and surrounded her. I tried to guide her past but she was stressed and stopped. I looked at the guy and asked if could grab them again, he just sat there and told me to keep walking. The dogs began to fight and I tried pulling my pup the other way. They were on either side of her and I couldn't get any movement so I kicked both his dogs. And kept walking.

He got out of his car and started yelling at me, "you kicked my fucking dogs". He then approached me and chased me down the block punching me in the head. I dropped my stuff and my dog got loose and ran through the neighborhood.

A few blocks away as I was chasing my dog, coincidentally, they drove past! I was able to read the license to dispatch.

I filed a police report and there are plenty of cameras in the area that would have captured it. One on a residential building, the other on an sfmta building.

How far can I take this? I'd like to pursue this to the fullest extent. The guy is a thug and negligent with his dogs.

EDIT: for those concerned about this. I didn't take my dog grocery shopping. I ordered curbside pick up, took my dog to GGP, and picked up the groceries on the way home. We didn't enter the store.

UPDATE: did an interview with NBC that may or may not air at 11pm. Video footage from the private residence that would have captured it all is unavailable as the cameras were not working at the time.
