Looking for suggestions on cheap classes

I am desperate to meet new people, in a safe way. I'd like to take a class or something, where the goal of friendship is secondary. Something where going without a friend isn't weird. Weekends preferred, but not written in stone
something like cooking, or an art class come to mind. But I'd like to hear less cliché things
