Hi there, I’m doing an internship this summer in SF and need some help deciding where I should live based on some specifications.

I would ideally like to not use a car to commute at all, but if push comes to shove, I’d be okay with driving to a BART station or something like that. Ideally I would spend 30 mins or less on public transportation, supplemented by walking or biking.

I will be living with my gf, so I’m looking for a 1bed, 1bath, no roommates. Looking to sublet in a furnished apt too. My ideal rent would be $2500-2900, but I’d be willing to go up to maybe $3500. We’re both of drinking age, so we’d like being in more “active” or bustling neighborhoods. My gf would love to be by the water, but not sure how feasible it is.

Given this info, what neighborhoods/areas of SF (or surrounding geographies) would you recommend for me?
