Tour Guide Patter: Safari Park
Post Body

This is such a specific question/shot in the dark but I figured I would try here!

Long story short, I have an interview at the Safari Park to be a (not going to specify the job title) tour guide. Iā€™ve spent 10 years being a tour guide and educator, but my only experience is in museums where the general vibe of the tours is serious, studious, and educational.

When setting up the interview, they mentioned that Iā€™d have to give a short presentation on a randomly chosen topic. They specified it wasnā€™t about facts, just my public speaking style.

Now Iā€™ve been to the Safari Park before (and obviously loved it, thatā€™s why I applied) but only in the past year when there werenā€™t any tours running! Can anyone who has been on a tour, or maybe someone that works at the park, tell me what style of patter theyā€™re looking for? Iā€™m very adaptive, but like I said, I do mostly educational ā€œlectureā€ style tours, and if theyā€™re looking for a Disney ride-esque jokester, I may have to brush up.

Please please please let me know if you even vaguely remember a tour there, or even if youā€™ve been to a tour at the San Diego Zoo! Iā€™m kind of freaking out, I would like to do my best at the interview but I also desperately want this job and any pointers as to what theyā€™re looking for would be SO helpfulā™„ļø
