Does anyone have any tips/tricks for dealing with morning traffic to La Jolla from Chula Vista?

I got a new job in La Jolla, that requires me to be there at 8 or 9 am , and also to be leaving around 5 pm. As most San Diegans know, that morning commute in traffic absolutely sucks. Does anyone have any tips / tricks / advice on how to deal with the commute? Perhaps alternate routes , suggestions , or even just advice to make it more bearable. Thanks y'all!
