A12 - calls recieve audio but cannot send

Hi all
Recent bug with a parents phone that I haven't been able to solve. For phone and WhatsApp calls audio is being recieved fine but it seems to not be able to send audio over. I've tested the mic via the recording apps which works fine and I've just updated the OS with no change.
Model is A12 SM-A125F/DSN, network is Vodafone UK
Any knowledge would be appreciated, done some forum searching with some inconsistent results.
