Any reason to upgrade to a higher class weapon?

Hi guys, new player here. I’m going a 2h halberd build. I’m currently using the Infantry Pollaxe IV and I recently acquired the Guardsman’s Halberd. It does less damage than my current one, so is there any reason to upgrade?

well, for some reasons as far as i've seen:

scalling

elemental damage

special effects or mechanics

like, for example, the tier 2, 1h sword Tachi, has more dmg and a better scalling than the tier 3 sword Virulent Scimitar, but the later also has poison dmg to it.

so i'd say check if the new weapon has better scalling, passive or elemental dmg and see if you think its worth it or not.
