Tips for a new player?

So, I'm a new player here and I would like some tips! I wanna try and do a two handed weapon build as I've heard those are fun. Any helpful things I should know both about the build and the game in general?

2 handed weapons are slow so make sure to to have enough defense to take some hits but also dont overcumber yourself with heavy armor, keep a nice balance.
