I'm dropping a note here that I've posted to /r/redditrequest to try to become mod of /r/salt.
I'd like to regain the focus on actual salt here. I don't have anything against the lending platform, but another venue might be best for that - seems like /r/SaltTrader/ is active, and I'd be happy to post a disambiguation link in the sidebar for that.
I got into salt collecting as a hobby while travelling a lot. I was tired of magnets and tchotchkes so I started buying local salts whenever I traveled. That turned into researching new ones online, and finding better ways to make them all handy and available while cooking. I'd already loved salty and savory foods (salt & vinegar is the best potato chip, I'll fight you), so it fit.
If this works out, I'd make a wiki on salt for the sub, and make sidebar links for /r/fermentation and other culinary subs.
I think we could use some post tagging for things like salt culture & history, salt recipes, salt reviews and products, salt science, and probably a few others.
And mostly, we need more content. The whole world uses this stuff every day and barely thinks about it. It's beyond ubiquitous. Let's talk about it. What do people want to see here?
There are two others also requesting modship - maybe they can chime in here to team up or share a vision? My post is here https://www.reddit.com/r/redditrequest/comments/80gmq3/requesting_rsalt_no_mods_been_posting_for_a_while/ if you'd like to chime on it (an upvote would be appreciated, but I think they work on different criteria).
