Beating my head against the "no experience" wall. Looking for any project.
Post Body

I have been following all the advice given in the sub since I started down my path for SFDC. I have been out there grinding since getting my 201 cert and am working on my 401 and app builder now.

I figured, no one has asked, so why not try this community for experience to!

Does anyone have any project the can use help on (paid or volunteer) for a beginner Admin/Dev?

Any leads or help is greatly appreciated!

Thank you so much for your well thought out and detailed reply! I'll clarify some things as I am not a private person (except for those CIA secrets I know).

• I'm 27 years old, turning 28 in March. The 1976 thing is a long story and not very interesting.

• I currently work with a project manager from Slalom Consulting and he tried pitching me to them, they wanted more experience.

• The Fotune 100 company I work for has my group admin based out of New York (she doesn't have her cert) but I have a solutions architect that sits on my floor and has been super supportive when he can be. I have a mock interview with him tomorrow actually.

• We don't use any CPQ type tools, although I have asked to shadow but the only option is at an architect level so waz turned down.

• I just got accepted to the Denver User Group! Yay!

• No degrees, 2 years completed towards engineering degrees and 1 year towards business admin degree.

• I think my soft skills are top tier. I feel that if I can get in front of someone I kill the interview and often get an offer afterwards (has been my experience in my current industry).

I'd love to see your resume and share mine (I paid an obscene amount to have it professionally done) so please any and all help! I'll PM you my e-mail.

Edit: To answer additional questions

  • I am fairly confident in my skills, I am currently doing all reporting requests for my team that we pull out of SFDC. Asking the group in NY has about a 2-4 week turn around so I'm much faster. (i.e. 10 minutes)

  • I have taken an Excel class and used it heavily for basic functions. I would say it would be knocking off a little rust to get back to advanced excel usage.
