Salesforce Associate Certificate Exam - do I need to study all the modules in Trailhead before taking on the exam?

I'm new to Salesforce, let's consider it 0 experience with SaaS and CRM. So i'm taking the SACE, and currently following the Trailhead modules, however, lots of modules are theoretical intensive and honestly just not that interesting.
Question is, would you suggest I complete all of them before taking on the exam or I can just do the exam preps to just pass the exam?
