Greetings sales engineers!
I currently work as a "full-stack" software developer for a non-tech company making simple internal web tools. I make a good salary (IMO) for how easy I consider the job, 78k 5% performance bonus. I have three years experience at this, but I simply hate writing code these days and need a change. I also worry about being fired in leu of my company keeping the more senior devs on along with AI assisted coding.
I'm also going to be graduating with a Masters in CS this coming May.
I recently was given some advice to switch into sales engineering because I could "make 500k per year easy as a more senior sales engineer".
Is this true or should I just try to step towards tech consulting or something like that? Would it be possible to get into it around 120k/yr? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
(Not super relevant, but I have also considered getting a PhD in CS and looking for research roles in academia for job security)
