First time in pure sales (6 weeks in) , crossing over from owning a small biz (basically sales, but brick&mortar so inbound). And this is much more cold outreach (were trying to use linkedin/Apollo for targeted, but my boss -the ceo is more old school and just wants outreach volume). We're a SaaS focusing in a defined market. Lots of little fish, a few big ones. We own about 30% market share already. My base is 70k, with a 1 month cut of their initial 12 month contract, which comes out to 200-400 per deal. We do about 2--4 deals a week, so in a slow month I might be making an extra 1k, larger deals or bigger months might go up to 5-6. We have a freemium product that demos require a lot of time, and l've been told "a deal is a deal" because they might transition to paid eventually. Smaller company, 30ish employees, only 2 other sales people (ceo and another rep). Is this in line with industry standards? Am I in a great situation, or one where I'm set up to struggle from the get go? How would I parlay this into another sales gig if it's not a good fit?
