Retail sales in a B2B interview?

How does the hiring manager see applicants with retail experience and what do they listen for. Everyone thinks retail sales is customer comes to the door and here is your product. WRONG! I have many times had to fish customers walking along the sidewalk and ask a ton if questions and see if I can offer a product based on the things they told me. 30-45 mins with each customer. I'm in telecom
