So recently I posted about my new company and the leadership concerns I had with said company (specifically leaving for a ābusiness tripā in las Vegas without notifying me or giving me a way to communicate with them) and now Iām wondering if I have a law suit.
After the companyās Vegas trip I was reached out to by the guy in charge and as if nothing happened proceeded to ask me to come to the office for a meeting. I showed up to the meeting on time (they where 15 minutes late) at which point they requested that I call on an existing account and find out what we could do to earn their business back. I naturally asked many questions about the last interactions with them and my boss explained that he didnāt know why or what happened and kept saying that he thought it was racism (which I find extremely dubious since the company is very diverse) but armed with no knowledge of what to expect I dutifully did as requested and made contact with the person responsible for the purchasing (a different person than was formally in charge) I set up a meeting with her to follow up and my boss was elated to find out the news of a new contact (the old one was bad you see) and we proceeded to compile the relevant information for their history with us.
Last week was the day of the meeting and my boss wanted to go with me and when we arrived and met our contact we where informed that their was a misunderstanding and that the person that had already been dealing with us was indeed the person we needed to speak with. Immediately my bosses face changed from happy smile to like heād seen a ghost, handing me the box of samples he exited the building and the meeting saying heād text me. The man I was to meet with refused to shake hands and turned his back and left also, without explanation. His partner reminded and explained that they had a very horrible experience with my company and that they were padding invoices, coming in disguise Taking pictures and sending them to upper management to circumvent the purchaser, among other things. At this point Iām in shock and a little angry that this happened and that Iām just finding out from them.
When I leave I walk to my car to find my boss parked behind me in the parking lot blocking me in, and as I approach he begins to interrogate me about the meeting (Iām still reeling over the bizarre situation) but I gather myself and my thoughts and tell him not to worry about it. I manage to get him to calm down and move his truck so I can leave but we schedule another meeting at the end of the week. In between the meeting I decided to look in to their interactions with other accounts as it is incumbent on me to be diligent about my new found concerns. I found myself being more stressed out finding more of the same.
Fast forward to the meeting and they pushed it back 30 minutes and I show up on time to them eating lunch and requesting me to wait another 20 minutes. They walk into the room and immediately begin talking about the ill fated meeting I had with the former (at this point) account upon which time I notified them that I had looked into it further, and thatās when the gaslighting began! Telling me how they didnāt trust me and that they didnāt see a way to move forward with me, and I was let go on the spot. I honestly am happy to no longer work for a bunch of scum bags but I feel the circumstances might be actionable, and if anyone else feels the same please let me know what you think.
