What happens to commissions owed to sales reps from companies that go out of business?

Post Body

In the solar industry, for example, 2/3 of all solar companies from 2000 to 2016 went under or disappeared.

I have massive ambitions with this industry, and the main thing I’m concerned about is the potential for onboarding a ton of reps, and then the install partner I work with goes under and I catch the heat for unpaid commissions.

I’ve been told with the proper lawyer, a settlement takes place, and you’re paid out the remaining commissions, is this correct?
