Ok, so the new album just dropped.
And it really seems like everything went wrong with the release, all problems that the band seem to have zero control over.
Here's everything I could find:
- Sarajevo is only available on physical versions (CD, vinyl, etc.), which completely screws over the digital release because it's the beginning of the story. It's like watching a movie and skipping all the exposition. Not only that, but the song is also up on the band's YouTube page, making the "physical only" thing completely pointless. Especially when the last song on the album is a reprise of Sarajevo.
- Sabaton has confirmed that there was a HUGE manufacturing error, so people who ordered the vinyl are getting a different version of the album. The Supporter's Edition CD also only has translated lyrics. They have also confirmed that this affects third party sellers as well.
- Someone posted here earlier that their CD has the entire track listing in Japanese. This person lives in Europe, by the way. As far as I'm aware, no one else has had this issue, but it's still a little interesting nonetheless.
As I've already mentioned, Sabaton seems to have no control over these issues. Everything I've pointed out seems to go back to the band's label, Nuclear Blast.
If you ask me, NB handled the release of this album really poorly. The only thing the band has openly stated was the manufacturing error. The whole "Sarajevo" thing has seemingly been confirmed by Amazon, as least as far as I can tell.
The album itself is fine, not really any different from other Sabaton albums, but the way the whole thing has been handled really makes me wonder how much longer Sabaton's going to be with Nuclear Blast.
