Mine was "The Attack of the dead men". In 1915 at the eastern front of WW1, the Germans have been tirelessly trying to take Osowiec Fortress, a strategic and heavily fortified area held by the Russians. The Germans have endlessly tried to take the fortress but the Russians still held the position.

Then in August 6th, the Germans tried a new strategy never used in warfare before. With so much canisters and the weather in their favour they release an enormous plume of green fog, toxic gas towards the enemy line. Birds fell from the sky and trees turn brown and died as the gas reaches the fortress.

The gas erodes the lining inside the lungs, causing the Russians who are ill prepared to check and literally drown in their own blood from the inside. The Germans seeing thousands of russian men collapse and chocked to death decided to simply March towards the fort, seeing this as an easy victory.

Until 100 or more wounded russian soldiers started to rise and made a last stand. Bloody rags around their mouths and eyes, face deformed from the chemical burns of the gas, blood oozing out of their eyes, noses and mouths and literally coughing up blood, they began to March (some crawled) towards the enemy in a last effort to defend their positions. Imagine the sheer will power it took to keep fighting in this state.

The Germans as soon as they see these zombie-like soldiers shooting and coming towards them began to retreat and run back in sheer terror. Because of this the few Russian soldiers still alive managed to still hold the position and the fort despite heavy losses. The media the next morning reported this, with the headlines saying "the attack of the dead men".
