Post Body

RX 6800XT with reference cooler Xmr-Stak 2.10.8

Core (mhz@mV) / Hash / Wattage = h/w

  • 600@881 / 1113 / 80 = 13,9
  • 888@881 / 1750 / 107 = 16,3
  • 1465@881 / 2850 / 150 = 19
  • 1844@881 / 3600 / 170 = 21,1
  • 2039@881 / 4000 / 190 = 21,05
  • 2335@993 / 4500 / 265 = 16,98
  • 2380@1033 / 4550 / 280 = 16,25

Check out all GPUs reference table here. Thank you

IMPORTANT:

  • Same issue as with VEGA or RX5**: default core voltage is at 1volt leads to GPU throttling (lowering clock) and not reaching described here hashrates. And also MAXes out wattage (hitting its TDP). So: core voltage reduction is a MUST (unless you want to use it as a heater)
  • If drivers/OC software in future allows to drop corebelow 881mV it will be even more h/w better
  • Ideally would be to land it on 1500Mhz/700mv to have 3000H/s at 100-110W :P
  • Memory was NOT downclocked due to current software incapability
  • Xmr-stak config needs tweaking as described on the screenshot

SUMMARY:

  • Hashrate is scaled from 2X 5700XT cards, just like teraflops are predicting: ~9.7Tf vs ~20.5Tf that proves nice concept of CN-GPU being teraflops based.
  • Top and hash/watt in general, apparently beats 2080 and 2080TI. Congrats AMD
  • 6800 needs software/firmware/driver update to try it with even lowered core voltage.
  • No guarantee that this silicon will be able run at <881mV though (let's hope it will)
  • AMD did a great work in improving Hash/Watt metric compared to Vega, and some very slight improvement over 5700 series.
  • Depends on it's price and your elec costs, and if you know how to downvolt your GPU core, it is likely a go-to setup to build a max-performig CN-GPU rig. Otherwise, check out GTX1660 series :P
  • Thanks to our great community participants for helping with tests and leasing hardware
