I always enjoy reading through all of the comments. Of course, some students are just angry they are doing poorly, but the overwhelming majority of students write honest, insightful comments. They really do help in improving the course, especially when everyone is commenting on the same things that they liked or didn't like. (But, sorry, even if you all think my exams are too hard (they're not), the exams are not changing.)
My favorite comment of all though:
I enjoyed watching other students complain and suffer because they're too lazy to study for this difficult course.
Stay strong.
A close second:
It was really annoying how much students complained about the curve, as someone who actually did all of the worksheets and stuff, there were a ton of opportunities to learn the material and that was the same material that was on the exams, the material is hard but the instructors do a lot to make sure that we are able to learn it and students complain so much it's kind of ridiculous.
It's so awesome when someone has the same complaint that I do, haha. Thanks for listening!
On another note, I really have no idea why the comments are deleted once the SIRS results become public. They say so much more than a simple number out of 5, and they give so much detail about the teacher and the course. They are immensely useful to me, and I imagine just as useful to any student deciding whether to take the course. RMP is absolute trash and you really should not use it as a reliable source. Maybe I should just post the SIRS review publicly so people can see them.
edit: As promised, the evaluations are now on my teaching page. For the evaluations for Math 135, see here. Once you even glance at the details of the comments, you will really wonder why they are not just made public, and just how bad RMP and other third-party sites are. (The comments from Sections 01 - 03 in Spring 2019 are particularly detailed.)
