Hi. I come from the embedded C / firmware job field.
Here in Australia the embedded job market is very low, and has always been.. I've been here for 10 years and have more gaps than employment.. And looking to switch fields.
I'm currently learning rust (second attempt, using another book) in order to move up the application level. Chose it over C and in hopes of future-proofing.
I know that a lot of guys coming here just switch to web dev, but I'm apprehensive. Just seeing if there are better industries to get re-aligned coming from embedded. That are related.
Specifically what I'm looking for is something suitable to tap into remote work. Something that hasn't got the issue of hardware baggage. Hence the focus on higher application level.
