I am most proficient in Java which is what I have been using in my current job writing distributed systems.Have used C but mostly for hobby projects, hence branding myself "okay" at it.
However I am good at memory management(alignment, pointers etc) and in general perf related things on Linux.
Thinking of taking a new opportunity which requires doing medium to low level stuff(writing a component for a database) in Rust. Got a sense that the team would want me to be productive soon. The folks in the team are also not very experienced, so don't expect complicated codebase to deal with.
How long in general it would take to become good at Rust?By good, I mean being able to read a medium complexity codebase and contribute using atleast semi-idiomatic patterns.
