Post Body

I'm a native English speaker, currently studying Russian in college. Last year in my first year Russian class, my professor (a native English speaker) told us that the word for "email" was usually письмо (because nobody writes real letters anymore) or the more English ΠΈΠΌΠ΅ΠΉΠ». I'm currently taking second year Russian, and got marked down by my professor (a native Russian speaker who has lived in the US for twenty years) for writing both these options. Apparently she was looking for either of the terms my textbook uses: элСктронная ΠΏΠΎΡ‡Ρ‚Π° or элСктронноС сообщСниС. Both of these seem unnecessarily formal. I would just like to know what word is actually used in Russia and if there are different connotations for each of these words!
