Question about expression "out of one's mind" / "сойти с ума"

In the plural form e.g. "they're out of their minds", should "ум" remain singular, or should it also be pluralized?
e.g. "они сошли с ума" or "они сошли с умов"? The latter sounds better to this foreigner but... you tell me :D
