Привет друзья!
We all know how different countries write differently, even when the same alphabet is used. I can recognise American handwriting straight away (see here – although no one writes like this anymore... but even the non-cursive version is sometimes distinctly recognisable as American).
I was wondering if the same can be said for Cyrillic. Would you be able to tell, by looking at the handwriting alone, that the writer isn’t from Russia, but one of the other countries where Cyrillic is used? I know there are some significant variations in Bulgarian, where fewer people use cursive. Would a Russian text written by a Bulgarian be easily recognisable as not from Russia?
What about Central Asia? I lived for a few months in Kyrgyzstan, and their handwriting looked pretty much the same – no distinctly non-Russian forms at all. But then, I’m not a native speaker... maybe you’ll be able to see something I can’t!
Would greatly appreciate handwritten samples! :D
