A serious question
Post Body

Among fans of Rush, it seems that every album between (and including) Power Windows and Test for Echo tends to get called "bad", for reasons that are never specified. In listening to these albums to try and figure out for myself what's so bad about them, two of them (Power Windows and Test for Echo specifically, go figure) have managed to pretty much become my two favorites. So I'd seriously like to know, what is it about that range of albums that makes people look down on them?

As a side note, one of the more common complaints I hear is that the lyrics to "Virtuality" are dated and lame. That doesn't even make sense to me. Neil Peart was writing a song about how awesome the internet was, before the internet was really even a thing. To me, it sounds more like "just think of all the possibilities that this technology can give to us" than anything else. If you ask me, that's not lame at all. And the internet's still relevant, so it's hardly dated, either.
