Maybe, but I’m not sure I’d equate Esquire’s opinion of anime to that of a more anime-centric publication. Unless I’ve just overlooked them all this time, but they did include Boruto…so I’m not so sure haha.
And growing up with 90s anime I can agree that today’s scene may seem weaker. But there are still some absolute great shows coming out. Frieren, Pluto, and Vinland Saga are three recents off the top of my head that are near 10/10s for me, though I realize it’s subjective
