When I saw Anita had a show in the Sydney Comedy Festival, I knew I had to book a spot!
Ever since watching her on DRDU 1 and Canada vs the World, she has shown so much charm, good humor and authenticity. You can imagine my disappointment when Miss Congeniality left too soon each season.
Seeing her live for the first time, I was so grateful to grab front row seats to her silly dance numbers and sassy one-liners. But what I didn’t expect was her openness in sharing her experience through a very dark and challenging time in her life, and introducing the audience to a side of Anita we don’t always see with many Drag Performers: Nick’s childhood, family and story.
Anita showed us her wonderful talent of trumpeting (not a sexual innuendo), handled her own production with costumes, music and video, and sold her merch straight out of a little gray suitcase after the show. She performs with passion and holds herself with so much integrity.
I honestly wish more people would celebrate her sweetness and sincerity - make sure to watch her the next time she performs in your town! She keeps it simple but she does it so very well. ❤️
