How Midwesterners and Texans run differently

my observation

For real, though, when I run (amateur) races up north I notice on the downhills everyone seems to lean back and go quite slow, while down in Central Texas where there are hills everywhere and they're unavoidable in non-track training, people move their fat Texan legs (we are an obese people) really fast and let gravity pull them downhill.

How do people in your neck of the woods take declines? Is it naturally quite hilly there? Is there ice a lot of the time? I'm trying to figure out why this differs so much.

FWIW I'm not a terribly good runner, just wanted to get that out there before I look like some arrogant elite sumbitch making fun of casuals.
