Hey everyone,
Over at r/artc we are putting together a "race" in remembrance of David Torrence.
During the summer we ran a virtual race series called Moose League that started because two members challenged each other to race, on the same day, but thousands of miles apart. This challenge was opened to the community and with David's recent passing the community requested that we have one more race in his honor.
Why a downhill mile?
At one point in his career DT attempted a downhill mile in order to break 4 minutes (thread, video). This attempt blew up around the running world and is one of the great memories that David has left behind.
Why are bunch of people on the internet doing a tribute to him?
Well, as was posted in this sub, David was a contributor to multiple online running communities. He joked around and gave advice when needed. Most of us did not know him personally but that doesn't mean he didn't influence our lives.
More info
Here's the post from /r/artc. I hope that you'll join us in our attempt to honor David's memory.
