TLDR at the end.

I want to put my perspective on this out there, and I hope that y'all will understand where I'm coming from.

I joined this sub because I thought it would be a helpful resource so that I could find more enjoyment in the game. But since I've been part of the sub, it's like the only thing I ever see posted is Complaints, either about bugs in the game, which is understandable, more about bonus experience items and MTXs.

Yeah, I get why people find invasive MTX's annoying. I'm not even going to get into that. I'm specifically talking about Bonus experience and direct experience objects.

This is my perspective

I love RuneScape. I played 30 hours a week when I was in junior high. Life happened, and I had to get out of the game until now, in my late 20s/early 30s. But, because of how my life went, I don't have very much time to play the game. I work in a very demanding field, and I might be able to put 10 or 12 hours into the game a week. And that's if I'm lucky.

RS three is such a huge game. 200000,000 experience is such a huge number for a maxed out skill. There is so much to do that the game doesn't even really open up until you get into your 70s and 80s as far as skills.

And, quite frankly, I don't have time for that.

I paid for a premier membership because it's been my dream to do that since I was a kid. I occasionally purchase treasure hunter keys because of one reason. Having the resources to level up now, makes it so that I can still enjoy the game. I do not have to spend months mindlessly grinding in order to get to the real content.

I still have to actually complete the achievement paths. I still have to actually do the quests. I still have to Netwerk and grind to get the coin that I need for the high-level gear and I still have to spend a bit of time doing my dailies to maximize my xp.

but, that being said, I am paying for a product. And I am the kind of person that is not going to pay for the product if I can't fully enjoy it and if I have to spend hundreds of hours grinding in order to get to the enjoyable continent, the things that people actually play the game to do, like bossing and completing story lines, I am just going to quit.

I know it sounds childish and selfish, but the point I'm trying to make is that there are people who don't have the luxury of being able to put that kind of time into a game. I'm not a whale by any means, but I will say that it's people like me, and every other member who plays the game, that keeps the game online. If people like me stop playing, Jagex goes under, and RS3 leaves the internet.

i'm not trying to be a d-bag, and yes, I do agree that there should be an option to turn off the ability to receive the bonus experience items from treasure hunter if you still want to play treasure hunter but don't want to "cheat yourself out of the experience" of actually going through the skill grind. But, that being said, no one is forcing you to use the bonus items. Every single one of them can be destroyed. And, yes, it is garbage the fact that you have such a low chance of getting the rare holiday items from treasure Hunter. Yes, I do feel like that inappropriately encourages micro transactions.

But, please don't get pissy and try to force an issue that would hurt players like me who still want to enjoy the game but legitimately don't have the ability to invest the time that it takes to level up.

When you are griping, please remember that you are not the only person that plays this game and some of us legitimately need those items. Thank you for your kind attention I hope everyone enjoys their game.

TLDR - there are people who legitimately enjoy the game but do not have the time to invest in an all out skill grind. Bonus experience and items from treasure hunter help people like me immensely and the game would not be the same for us without those things to help us keep pace with other players.
