Romance Story not progressing?

I've had a romance story for Ryker supposedly active for the better part of a month, and I can't for the life of me progress it. There's never any map markers for events, and speaking to him every day hasn't made any progress. (I speak to everyone in town every day.)
If anyone has done his events and might know, it's an event called "Chronic Slacker." It's been irking me for a while now because it's clogged up all town and romance events.
