Potential Spoiler to Those Who Haven't Played

All of a sudden, I can't capture monsters. My ZL button works (tested it on other games) but for some reason, in RF5 it's not working. I can't capture the wanted monster. I'm in Yr.1 Summer 1 if that matters. I legit cannot capture anything. The game is acting like the button doesn't work. All other buttons are registering. Any one else having this issue? Anyone know what I need to do?

P.S I loaded a MUCH earlier save and the ZL button works there. But this save is pretty much from day 1 in game and i don't want to start over.
