a doozy of a story
Post Body

so, this is a bit of a long one, so, get ready

background: i was the DM at local group, i had taken over around 2 months before this story, after the previous DM left (which is a whole other story)

anyways, the group i was Dming was fairly small, around 4 people (i'm most comfortable in groups of 5-6) so a good friend of mine said he would bring some new players next week, i was happy. The day came and he had brought two people, one which is not important, the other, who i'm gonna call fred here, is the focus of this post.

He was new to DND, this wasn't an issue, i'd been playing for 5 years at this point, and we had another vet in our group, so, we taught him the ropes and he seemed very excited to play.

At first, he was fine, even good, for a new player, he made the mistakes that a lot of new players make (afraid to RP, forgot some rules, ECT) but he was upbeat, fun and interested.

oh, how times changed

fred started to get worse and worse as time went along, i started to get sick of him, the other members of the party stated to get sick of him.

he started small, then got crazy, quick.

and gonna bullet point this, since there's a lot.

. he started to go on his phone, a lot, at first, he would just send a text, it was annoying, but, not game breaking, then he started to put on head phones and watch JOJO during games, when i told him to stop, he used that classic excuse, "don't worry, i'm paying attention" he wasn't, and would miss huge story beats, then blamed it on me for "not telling a good story" (while the other players were saying it was some of the best DND they ever played)

. he was a furry, now there is nothing wrong with that, at all, but, he was the type that bragged about it, it was annoying, but not game breaking, until he was able to get a magic wish, and he wished two dog companions, not for RP, not even for extra attacks, he did it so that he could say "i'm f#king my dogo bois" (and yes, that is an exact quote) it would go like this.

Me: ok player one, what are you doing in your downtime?

player one: i'm asking around town about the BBEG!

Me: ok, player two, what are you doing in your downtime?

player two: i'm going to tend to our wounded!

Me: ok, fred, what are you doin...

fred: I'm F#cKiNg My DoGO BoIs

it was the worst, and it got to the point where the other players, tried to kill them, (and eventually be successful in tossing them both into a pit of lava).

. he never learned the rules, at first, this wasn't so bad, he was new at DND and needed to learn, but after two years, you figured he would know how to attack, and roll initiative. He was a spell caster, and he only ever cast the same spell: poison spray, not because he liked that spell or anything, he did it because he never learned how to use the rest of his spells, i tried to help him out, i brought him spell cards, he lost those, so, he just went back to just poison spray, all the time. I still tried to help him, I would help him whenever he forgot the rules, it when in one ear and out the other, mostly because he was watching JOJO while playing.

.he was a jerk to the rest of the players and me, he would call them every swear word in the book (up to racial slurs). he always wanted to be at the center of attention, so if another player killed a monster, he would scream at them for "stealing his kill". if anything didn't go his way, he would leave, just leave, if his dogs took any damage, he would leave, if he took five points of damage and the cleric wouldn't heal him, he would leave, if he didn't get every magic item that i had as loot, he would call me "bias" and leave. He once started a fist fight with an another person in our group, then he tried to blame it on the other person. if you touched any of his minis, he would yell at you. he once put me in a choke hold, a tight one, and when i rightfully hit him off, he not only literally ran off crying, he tried to blame the whole thing on me, and told a POLICE OFFICER that I "assaulted" him, thankfully I was able to defuse the situation.

so, you might be wondering, why didn't boot him out of the group? well, our local library was hosting this DND group, and since it was an "inclusive" place, you couldn't kick out someone without one of the staff members seeing the person in question doing something wrong, and it didn't matter if every other person in that group backed you up, because they had to see it to kick them out, and he would always act good in front them.

thankfully, i didn't have too, because he left.

i wasn't DMing the game that he left, i was taking a break, and another one of my players was DMing, we were in a split party, fred was thrown from a ship and was left, alone, stranded on an island. the rest of us were trying to find him, the DM was describing our scene to us, this is an exact transcript of what happend.

DM: "so you guys are in front of a ba....."

Fred: "WHENS IT MY TURN!"

DM: (politely) "wait your turn, fred, anyways, you guys are are...."

Fred: "WHENS IT MY TURN!"

DM: (a bit annoyed now) "wait your turn, fred, anyways, you guys...."

Fred: "WHENS IT MY TURN!"

DM: (fully pissed now) "FRED, WAIT YOUR TURN!"

Fred: "YOuR BUllYiNG Me, Im LEaVInG YoU JeRKS."

oh yeah, he was watching JOJO that whole time

he's never returned, and for that were all thankful

what do you guys think?
