First off, it's been a long time and I don't remember every detail. I'll do my best to convey events as they happened.
Cast:
The DM as DM
That Guy as Fighter
Shy guy as Rogue
My own annoying self as Bard
Some self info. I'm no expert or hardcore tabletop veteran. I played 3.5 with a group that also didn't have a great DM, but it wasn't really his fault. However, I love the concept, and collect systems for all the games I'll never okay.
I worked with the entire cast in a small electronics repair facility. Fighter wasn't really a manager, but had more pull with the boss than the rest of us cause he'd been there a bit longer. Had a nasty habit of pushing his (rather limited) weight around. I should have taken that as a sign of things to come.
DM started talking about getting a game started after work. There was a coffee shop right next door, and since the location was convenient, we all decided to go there. We meet up, and do some character creation. Everything seems to be starting well.
To begin with, That Guy and the DM were both being very loud in the small town café, and were warned several times by the generally cool staff to knock it off cause they were swearing very loudly and obnoxiously while small children were nearby. Not a good look and set of some alarm bells for me. I'm not a prude, but it wouldve given Stiffler a run for his money.
Then, Session 1. That Guy and DM proceed to completely ignore me and Shy Guy, whilst haggling over what items would be in a local shop and their prices. For the ENTIRE session. Needless to say, me and Shy Guy were beyond annoyed. We decided to give it one more go though.
Session 2 begins by a local lord hiring us to retrieve some hostages taken by bandits. After That Guy swoops in and kills the sentries, me and Shy Guy have an idea. Let's use our disguise kits to make ourselves look like the fallen sentries, so we can find out where the hostages are. DM doesn't like that. He proceeds to make us roll to get our disguises going. Then roll again, and again, and again... 9 times total. We kept passing then, but sooner or later the dice wouldn't work out. We both knew the DM would keep forcing it to make combat happen. So we decided to launch a stealth attack to open the battle. That Guy immediately berates us for being morons that wasted our disguises.
After all is done, we head to the local lord to get our reward. He gives us a chest of coins. That Guy then says, "I'm taking these all for myself, since you guys didn't see me take them". I responded by saying that was ridiculous, we'd obviously see, as we were all standing right next to each other. We all completed the task, and we all deserved the reward. The DM then says, "no, he's right, he's the only one that saw the coins."
My brain exploded a bit and, admittedly childishly, I told them both to eat a d**k and walked out. Shy Guy followed behind me, also completely shocked as to how it had gone. Coincidently, our hours were cut the rest of the week, and we were both fired the week after. That Guys smirk proved telling enough as to who was behind it as we were escorted out.
TLDR: DM and That Guy make game miserable, me and the other player quit the game. we both lose our jobs as a result. Likely That Guy punishing us for not playing along.
