I'm currently GMing a game in which the world will soon come to an end and a new world will be formed. I'm currently trying to come up with an event table based on 10 specific themes of survival to be broadened upon later. Here's what I have so far:
Basic needs - food, water, shelter, clothes, security
Wants - (This won't be used until the group is more established but essentially anything the group as a whole would want for their new homestead i.e. a healer, buildings, blacksmith, engineer, or anything else they would need to find to better the homestead.
Disease/Injury - something happens that causes a doctor to be found or a particular antidote be prepared needing specific ingredients
Stranger's arrival
Weather Related - Storm or natural disaster causes emergency of some kind
Internal Disruptions - NPCs currently 20 planned to be in the homestead all created randomly from alignment to careers so plenty of options for love interests, disagreements, murder, alliances, and mutiny.
Creature's arrival
I would like 3 more themes to expand upon but am currently drawing a blank. I've never played a survival based game so I'm not 100% sure what I might be forgetting. If you need more details about the world feel free to ask. 1 idea I am toying with is the idea of untamed magic running rampant causing random spells but not sure if that is something I want to deal with as it might make things to complicated.
