What are some systems you think are underrated? I always love finding new systems and rpgs and wonder what y'all think?
Honestly the S5S system by Nightfall games, the ones that made the Terminator and SLA Industries games. A really simple and decent system that does take a moment to understand. But is a good one for general play, and fits the worlds they have rather well. It uses 5D10, so that's a bit odd but refreshing imo.
Roll your D10s, add you skill Attribute and one of your D10s is your pass/fail, the others tell you how awesome you win or how badly you suck.
Though part of my enjoyment was from the fact I am a Terminator fanboy and I love grimdark strangeness that is SLA. 90s edge updated to now, it looses a bit of the vibe much like how Cyberpunk 2020 vs Red is so oddly different and a bit samey like most of the modern counterparts.

I understand it not clicking. I had to play a few games before it sunk in. Its a weird one, once you get it then you see how it works well. Like GURPS, I hated it for a long time then a friend offered me a spot at his table to play now after several games I understand how cool it can be.
The hardest part for me with S5S was reading the dice and understanding it. Mostly becuase I didnt have an obvious success die and adding several numbers at once. Of course being a sucker for the Terminator series made me sit down and really dig into the rules.
