Are decarb capsules ever more than a gimmick?

Exact temperature control with an already existing piece of gear does seem like a tempting pitch at first, but between the lack of visual transparency, oddly high cost, lower flexibility (always gotta release the plates before manipulating the container) and worse throughput I'm uncertain whether this is a good investment compared to, say, a toaster oven/air fryer/sous vide stick/regular old oven.
Am I missing something major?

Yeaaaah that's kinda what I thought. It looks like a fun gimmick but it's really no more than that and it's routinely priced like a high-end collectible grinder.
