Marquise and the Law of Root

Post Body

I am new to the game, and this is kind of a rant from the rules I've seen discussed online to how overly confident the Law of Root comes across despite its many printings. I imagine this has probably been ranted about before (maybe?) but I haven't seen any of these posts for now. (This was the prologue of my rant). The Law of Root has been through many iterations of updates. And at the beginning, under Golden Rules 1.1.1: "Precedence", it says if the Learning to Play guide conflicts with the Law, follow the Law. The Learning to Play guide says that the wood the cats want to use has to be connected to the clearing they want to build in by any number of clearings they rule. This makes it clear that the clearing the wood is in has to be ruled by the cats. The Law of Root however, says that the wood has to be pulled in from "the chosen clearing, any adjacent clearings you rule, or any clearings connected to the chosen clearing you rule through any number of clearings you rule.". It specifically mentions that the clearing you're building in has to be under your rule as well as any adjacent clearing but it doesn't mention that any clearing (besides the adjacent and the one you're building in) has to be under your rule, just that it has to be connected to the clearing you're building in through any number of clearings you rule. I've read many times (from the Law of Root itself as well as others online) to follow the specific wording of the law, and this specific wording suggests that besides the clearing I'm building in and the adjacent clearings, any other clearing(s) I'm getting wood from as the cats don't need to be under my rule. My question is, if those clearings do need to be under my rule, why hasn't the Law of Root been updated after being revisited and reprinted many times to be more specific? Rah! -_-

Edit: So it turns out I interpreted the wording differently and incorrectly so I apologise. The Law is the Law and apparently (however ambigious) was correct all along. I read "the chosen clearing, any adjacent clearings you rule, or any clearings connected to the chosen clearing you rule through any number of clearings you rule." as "or any clearings, connected to the chosen clearing you rule, through any number of clearings you rule" instead of "or any clearings, connected to the chosen clearing, you rule through any number of clearings you rule.".
