Single POV or Dual POV
Post Body

My book was written in first person single POV (contemporary new adult erotic romance) focused on the female main character. I would most liken it to the Deal by Elle Kennedy if it didn’t have Garrett’s parts. I’m considering adding the male POV to the book because I’ve read and observed that most romance readers prefer double POV, but the issue is if I do this it might mess up with some significant plot points. For example, one of the twists in the book is that the female character believes that the male character was in love with her best friend, but really he had been trying to get advice from her best friend on how to approach her (female main character). Now probably avid romance readers will already suspect this is the case, but I feel like adding the male POV (in which it is obvious he likes her) might completely kill the tension on that end. Also the book is already clocking in at 55k words and I don’t want to potentially double the word count so if I’m adding the male POV it might have to be at a 2:1 ratio (for every two female POV there is a male POV). Editing some scenes might help but still.

Anyway, I’m just trying to get advice on whether or not to stick to the single POV or to add the double POV. In your experience as readers and writers, does having both perspectives really impact the book by a lot?
