While the Cyclone in Luna Park at Coney Island is certainly famous, venerable, and iconic, I wonder if it gets enough recognition for its actual quality.
This was a bucket list coaster for me, and last summer my wife and I were able to ride it several times. It packs an amazing punch, and probably has the strongest laterals of any coaster that I've ever ridden. Of course, the old school restraints and lack of seatbelts added to the excitement, as at one point the laterals were so strong on a turn that I flew into my wife's lap lol (we are not large people)!
I believe the 2021 Golden Ticket Awards ranked it 13 for woodies, which is a strong ranking...but I can't help but feel that it should actually be even higher. I don't get too hung up on rankings, but I guess I was just pleasantly surprised at how awesome a coaster it actually is, rather than it just being a famous credit like I'd expected.
