I'm teaching my family to skate so I'm spending a lot of time on 8 wheels. I'm way more comfortable on skates than I've ever been and am looking to try something different to keep growing. I consider myself an intermediate skater. I don't think I'm that great, but non-skaters are impressed.
My primary skates are a pair of K2 Fit Boas with 4x90mm wheels. I love the comfort of the soft boot, the convenience of boa, and the speed and maneuverability are perfect for this environment. As far as I'm concerned, these K2s are the perfect do-everything skate for where I live and I plan to keep these long-term.
As I get more and more comfortable with these 4x90s, I'm wondering if I should buy a completely different pair of skates for fun and to continue learning. I do not need to go faster, since it's very urban where I live and my family can't keep up anyway, so I'm thinking about getting a set of skates for building skills. Maybe something with smaller wheels and rocker? I guess that would be a "freestyle" skate? I'm not really into grinds and whatnot so I think that means I'm not a candidate for "Aggressive" skate setups? I am also unclear on what "urban" means in terms of skates and style.
What would you guys suggest for someone like me who is ready for a new challenge and isn't really cost constrained? Is it even worth getting another skate, or are the soft-boot 4x90s enough to learn tricks on for years?
