Arnold's hand clung to the tassels at the edge of the carpet. Magic carpets were an antiquated method of travel for a wizard, but it was an affordable method of transport for the numerous students making their way to Wymunds this year. Arnold would have preferred a magic LazyBoy or something with rails at least and screamed as the shaggy rug dove towards the school's arrival pad.
Mechanical spider constructs escorted the first year students down the grandiose stairs as the school's gargoyles regarded the amateur wizards and witches. The selection process had laxed requirements for entry following a controversial public display of affection from an untrained wizard. Arnold had never received any formal training as a junior and was elated to hear about remedial courses for adults living with magical abilities.
He expected a magic hat to tell him which house he would be going to or some test of abilities. But as he joined the congregation of students at the portal at the bottom of the stairs, he was shocked. Billows of steam and flashing arcs of red magic filled the adjoining room as the students shuffled in. Arnold precariously walked through the doorway towards the whirring machinery. He got in line with the other students that were chatting aloud.
"Hi Arnold, I'm Respia, your familiar."
A fist sized bat was perched on his shoulder, its wings folded in around its body as it spoke to him.
Writing: Third person, past tense, with a preference for a writing style similar to the one posted above. My writing takes on a 33% split between introspection, plot progression, and setting description. Minor side characters are usually my favorites to play, the flirty hound master adding spice to a scene, or a bit of comedy from a flabbergasted bishop. I tend to add more NPC's than I can keep track of but focus on their interactions with the main characters.
Preferred writing is through discord server, but I have cowritten papers on Google docs for work and school so not a huge leap there.
Genre/Other:Fantasy, Action, Mystery, Romance
Looking for an RP partner to play another character in the Wymund Institute for remedial magic. My favorite part of books like Harry Potter or games like Elder Scrolls was the schools themselves. What secrets do they hold kinda deal. I also like magic systems, progression of character narrative and abilities, and fantastical creatures. Let me know if your interested and any ideas for characters or cool things. Thanks!
