Nightblair writes,
Aquarium Arena is coffee-break roguelike in which you are thrown into merfolk built arena of underwater combat.
Contrary to most roguelikes, levels have ""sidescroller perspective"", so items fall down to ground. In each level you need to kill required amount of monsters to please your audience of mermen. When they are content with you, gate to another level will appear. Corals are placed randomly in the arena, you can hide in them so monsters won't find you easily. You also can make combos of consecutive kills. Mermen like that and will throw more items to the arena.
My game contains harpoons as a unique item: powerful projectile which player needs to pick up after firing. Harpoons are affected by gravity, so each turn they can be farther away and also stolen by crabs (you can get them back after killing them). Player needs to calculate if he should continue combating monsters or go after his harpoons. Harpoons are normally not thrown into arena. You can obtain them only as a leveling reward, so they are not easily replaceable. Apart from your experience with the game, I'd like to know if this mechanic is fun or frustration to you.
