I am pretty new to rockhounding, having started 2 months ago at the ripe age of 19. It has become a passion of mine, and I have gone through the western half of Oregon, southern Washington and Northern California looking for cool rocks (namely jasper, agate, and pet wood). Considering the amount of time and effort I have put into seeking out rockhounding spots, I feel like I am not getting as many finds as I feel like I should. I mainly look in random streams in the cascade region, and I have found several pieces of transparent chalcedony, several pieces of jasper, and a sizable chunk of agate. So what Iām asking is, anyone have tips for rockhounding? Specifically in using geologic knowledge to find good spots? Another thing that perplexes me is the location of crystal pockets, so that too. Sorry for the rant lol
