Incredibly niche seam-tracking question about ComArc on Panasonic

Post Body
My boss told me that in order for a Panasonic robot to accurately track a seam with ComArc, the approach point must be linear on the tool Z-axis (basically he was telling me that it was my fault the seam tracking wasn't working because I mishandled the approach). I think my boss is entirely full of shit, but before I confront him, I feel like I should at least investigate. Has anybody ever heard of anything even remotely like this? There's shockingly little published online about ComArc.
