My girlfriend and I are going to be driving from our homes in the midwest to our new home together in California, along with some pets in the backseat. She's very freewheeling "We'll cross that bridge when we get there" type, I tend to overprepare and worry everything to death. So of course, planning a road trip is causing some friction.
With the pets, we're not going to be doing much stopping for sightseeing, but our current route takes us to Denver to see some friends. From there, we're planning to go to Nevada and stay the night, then make the final stretch to home in the last day.
Nevada is where my worry is. We're taking I-80 and, as far as I can tell, that's just like...200 miles of nothing between Elko and Reno. The OCD part of my brain keeps imagining the car breaking down, or getting a flat, or something like that happening.
I haven't, in my life, ever driven for more than three hours at a time. I haven't driven on the interstate in around five years. Am I just overworrying?
