Hear me out. Listen to what he says: obviously he knows he can get more out of our best players. First off, that's what matters most.
And he has no head coaching experience, but we needed a new voice in the locker room, and he has that. Championship experience, Xs and Os, is well respected... honestly, he checks the boxes.
Nate Bjorkgren is going to be amazing.
...wait. He got fired after one season. Because nobody had any clue how he'd be as a head coach despite his track record. And he wasn't good.
Billups could be great. But he could be not great. And with no roster changes, he will need to be one of the very few coaches over the last two decades to join McMillan, Kerr, and Bud as coaches who took the exact same talent to new heights.
We all want this to happen. But please, be reasonable. The opposite could happen. Or something neutral.
Either "neutral" or "opposite" means Dame leaves. History says those are the two most likely outcomes.
It sucks, but just root for the best while understanding that without a trade, the math is working against us pretty badly.
